Detailed Description
Students perform in a wide variety of ensembles: Jazz, Pop, Punk, Rock n Roll, Reggae, Classic Rock, Oldies, etc.....
Prerequisite Course(s):
All students planning to enroll in music ensemble must first meet with the instructor before enrolling.
No course prerequisites, although some history of playing an instrument or singing is recommended
Course Format
Students will be given voice and choice to determine the instructional style
best fit to the group. Every effort will be made to personalize learning to
each student individually. Students will have the
opportunity to perform in a variety concerts and settings. Project based learning will be emphasized.
Required Texts and Materials
No textbook is required for this course. All articles, method books,
and readings will be provided in class.

Late and Missing Assignments
No late work will be accepted in this course unless arrangements
have been made ith the instructor of the course. When late work is accepted,
the grade will be reduced in correlation to how late the assignment is turned
in and is purely at the instructor’s discretion. NOTE: Pass-offs can be
retaken as many times as necessary until the end of the quarter.
To retake a pass-off students must come in during office hours or schedule an appointment.

Project and Assignment Expectations
Unless specifically stated, all word processed assignments should
conform to the APA style including the use of a 12pt. font with
appropriate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
All written work is required to be completed to the student’s best ability level.
Only the student's best effort is acceptable.
Collaborative Work
The student must independently complete all assignments, tests, activities, etc.,
unless specifically stated otherwise. In situations where collaboration is part
of the assignment, the expectations will be clearly stated in the assignment
overview. In all collaborative efforts, you must work only within your assigned group,
and include names of all individuals who worked on the submitted assignment.
These two minimum requirements for collaborative assignments must be met or the work will not be accepted.
Seven Steps to Student Success
1. Attend every day
2. Review white board for daily, weekly, and hexter objectives.
3. Participate every day
4. Complete assignments by the due dates specified
5. Communicate regularly with your instructor and peers
6. Keep all returned graded work in your in-class folder
7. DO NOT TAKE YOUR IN CLASS FOLDER OUT OF THE CLASSROOM OVERNIGHT.
Course/Instructor Evaluation
At the end of the course students will be asked to fill out an evaluation sheet.
The evaluation will be anonymous and participation is required.
Changes in Syllabus/Schedule
This syllabus is subject to change at the discretion of the instructor
and/or Ferguson High School. Every effort will be made to avoid
changing the syllabus or course schedule but the possibility exists
that unforeseen events will make changes necessary.
If so, changes will be communicated in class by the instructor.
