Course Description:
Ferguson Mixed Choir is designed for singers of any experience level. Students have the opportunity to perform at multiple events. Each school year choir performs at all four quarter awards ceremonies. Choir also performs the Star Spangled Banner and a commencement song at both FHS graduation ceremonies. Other performances opportunities include holiday caroling, Valentines Day serenading, poetry slam performances and more. Students are expected to be present for all rehearsals and performances. Any unattended performances without proper notification and planning will result in a non passing grade. Regular attendance is paramount in Ferguson Mixed Choir.
Topics of study include, but are not limited to, solfege, tone production, ear training, major and minor scales, music theory, score study, and topics chosen by the students. Students will develop their own personalized singing warmup plan. Chor will make regular recordings in the Ferguson High School recording studio. Those recordings will be published and shared on a variety of multiple media outlets for both students and their families to access. Students skilled in instrumental music are encouraged to accompany the choir when possible. The bottom line for Ferguson Mixed Choir is to have fun singing and learning.
